Garden City farm show in the works

? Area farmers and ranchers will have an opportunity to learn new and innovative ideas about the agriculture industry at the Garden City Farm and Ranch show in January.

Garden City will host the new indoor farm show Jan. 13-15, thanks to KIUL 1240 AM radio and the Mid America Ag Network in Wichita.

The two radio stations advertise for large companies in Kansas and several surrounding states. When those advertisers mentioned Garden City would be a nice spot to host an indoor farm show in the winter months, Greg Steckline, owner of KIUL radio and the Mid America Ag Network, agreed.

“Winter is a good time to have a farm show when there is not a lot of activity at the farm,” Steckline said.

The Garden City Farm and Ranch Show will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Exhibition Building at the Finney County Fairgrounds. There will be exhibits from all sectors of the farm and ranch community, from crop production to livestock production.

There will be booths set up at the show, along with speakers addressing agricultural issues, a major prize giveaway and other surprises, Steckline said.

Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture John Block is scheduled to speak at the conference.

Booth spaces are limited at the show and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For exhibitor information, contact Chad Jones at the Mid America Ag Network at (316) 721-8484 or Ross Miller at KIUL at 276-3251.
