Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 26, 1908: “Chancellor Frank Strong of the university has made his seventh annual opening address before a student audience of more than 1,700. He made a strong plea for obedience to discipline and for a great democracy with no snobbery. He urged students to cling to their habits of religion formed at home and to bear in mind that the university is for the development of moral and intellectual qualities.”
