From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 25, 1908: "Flags flew at half-staff for the Sept. 24 funeral of beloved ex-chancellor F.H. Snow. City, county and university offices will be closed. He died recently in Wisconsin after a long illness brought on by years of hard work. He was 68 and had been chancellor 11 years. : One of the finest displays of fruits, vegetables, grains, horses and other agricultural products ever gathered in Douglas County were shown at the the big Vinland Fair, which drew more than 2,000 to see the great show."
