From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 22, 1908: “Dr. F.H. Snow, The Grand Old Man of Mount Oread, died the morning of Sept. 21 at Delafield, Wis., where he had gone with his wife and daughter, Miss Edith Snow, in search of better health. Worn out from years of active service to the university, which he fostered from its founding, the doctor had been in failing health for the last year and a half. He was a member of the first faculty at the university and gained worldwide fame as a scientist and chancellor.”
