Law enforcement continues to maintain a perimeter around a house southeast of Baldwin City. Roads in the area have been closed as the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers try to make contact with a woman who is threatening to harm herself.

“We’re trying to make sure that that person doesn’t (hurt herself) and that everybody comes away safe,” said Douglas County Undersheriff Steve Hornberger, who oversees the operations division.

Officers have been at the scene, in the 1800 section of North 100 Road. since about 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.
