Poet’s Showcase
Silent God
By Katie Lashbrook
I listen to earnest Christian friends who
desire, long for, pray for
God’s management to decide what is right for them in
His plan, in
His eye,
in order to use their energies and talents as He wishes.
They seek to serve others in a way not driven by self,
but by a loving God’s decree and direction.
God is silent.
Praying for a sign, my friends look for a clear
road to walk, for unclouded vision, even second-guessing
decisions made long ago.
(Was it your will or mine, God?)
They seek the perfect objective – not my will, but yours.
God is silent.
Where is Your guidance, God?
How can You leave these good people
alone with their burning questions?
They look to You for a divine directive, please show them
Your way.
God is silent.
