The Astronomy Associates of Lawrence met Aug. 31 for their first public star party of the fall at Prairie Park Nature Center. More than 40 people viewed Jupiter and other celestial bodies through club members’ telescopes. The club’s next star party will be Sept. 28 at the same location. Over the Rainbow Doll Club met Sept. 9 at the Lawrence Public Library for its annual open meeting. Special guest speaker was Debbie Tracy from Leawood. Tracy presented a program with information about Beatrice Alexander (Madame Alexander), the growth of the company, and the development of the production of MA dolls. Guests from the Lawrence Doll Collectors Club and the Leavenworth Doll Club along with several other guests attended the program. Next month’s meeting will be at the home of Janet Lukehart on Oct. 9. Club dolls should be dressed in Halloween costumes.
