Collage Concert to showcase KU talents

The sights and sounds of the Kansas School of Fine Arts will fill the Lied Center Friday night for the school’s ninth annual Collage Concert.

The concert is designed to highlight music, dance art and design by students and faculty members in the school. Highlights will include:

¢ Videos showcasing works from art and design students.

¢ “Carmen Fantasia” by George Bizet, featuring the Wind Ensemble, trumpet soloist Steve Leisring and dance soloist Michelle Heffner-Hayes.

¢ Performances by several vocal soloists, a brass quintet, the Alternative Energy Woodwind Quintet, Chamber Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Men’s Glee Club and Jazz Ensemble I, among others.

¢ The Marching Jayhawks filling the auditorium’s aisles for the finale.

The Collage Concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for students and senior citizens. They are available by calling 864-ARTS or 864-3982 or by visiting the box offices at the Lied Center or Murphy Hall.

In addition, the School of Fine Arts will have a fundraising reception following the concert in the Lied Center’s Seymour Gallery. Tickets are $75 and are available by calling 864-3421.
