Bikers for Babies sets funding record
The 14th annual Kansas City Bikers for Babies ride to benefit the March of Dimes raised $630,000 over the weekend, more than any other March of Dimes motorcycle ride in the nation this year.
The event Sunday brought more than 5,600 riders to the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.
During the event, participants took a 79-mile all-Kansas ride. Other sights included a bike show, dealer expo, DynoDrag demonstrations and live music.
Ed Hale, of Raymond, Mo., and his “posse” collected more than $72,000 this year. He was the top fundraiser for all Bikers for Babies events in the country.
During the 14 years of the event in Kansas City, Bikers for Babies has raised more than $3.7 million. The money collected goes toward grants that look at premature birth and other community programs related to pregnancy and baby health.
