4-H news

The Lone Star 4-H Club met Aug. 11 at the Lone Star Church of the Brethren. Christine Caffey, president, called the meeting to order. Rowan Plinsky, Bethany Ledom and Megan Williams led the group in a song. For roll call, members responded to “What school will you attend this fall?”

Mary Berg gave the community leader report. Berg thanked members for their participation in this year’s county fair. She also said Douglas County 4-H would be creating a second edition of the 4-H Tabloid in October during National 4-H week.

The new 4-H Web site being hosted by Sunflower Broadband was discussed. The site is still under construction. If any one has ideas for the site, please submit them. Record books need to be turned in Sept. 17 to Mary Berg for the annual record book screening. The Lone Star 4-H Club ad for the October 4-H Tabloid has been submitted.

The annual Officer Elections for the 2008-2009 year will be held in the September meeting. Club members were reminded to think about what office they would like to be considered for.

During the program section, Grant Metsker gave a parliamentary presentation on “Division of the House,” and Franklin Johnson presented a current event about the invasion of Georgia by Russia.
