Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 12, 1908: “L.L. Tuttle of this city has been the victim of fraud and lost $58 on a clever forger. The forger was posing as an old soldier when he got the money. : The contract for the new mining engineering building at the university has been let to the Blanchard Construction Co. of Topeka. The winning bid was just over $41,000. There were eight bidders. Work is to begin this fall. : Work has begun on the remodeling of the parsonage of the German M.E. Church headed by the Rev. A.J. Rooss.”
