Seabury claims first football win

Seabury Academy didn’t have to wait long for the first football victory in school history.

Gus Wigen-Toccalino and Reed Grabill rushed for two touchdowns apiece in a 34-16 eight-man victory over the Crest JV on Monday in Colony.

Seabury, which initiated football this year, had debuted last week with a 66-14 loss to Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe.

“Our defense was much better,” Seabury coach Scott Peavy said. “I’m really happy for all the players. Hopefully, we can keep it rolling now.”

Freshman Austin Barone also had a rushing TD.

Peavy also cited the defensive work of linebacker Kale Joyce, nose tackle Peter Cooney and linebacker Skyler Malone.

Seabury’s next game will be Sept. 20 at K.C. East Christian.
