Titans keep eye on Young

While defending their quarterback from critics worried about his mental state on Monday, the Tennessee Titans had to reschedule a test on Vince Young’s sprained left knee.

Coach Jeff Fisher said at his Monday afternoon news conference that the team did not have the test results on Young’s knee. The team said approximately four hours later that an MRI had to be rescheduled for today.

¢ San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson’s jammed right big toe was wrapped, but fantasy geeks worldwide apparently have nothing to fear. Tomlinson jammed his toe when a Panthers player landed on the back of his leg during the Chargers’ final drive.

¢ St. Louis Rams wide receiver Drew Bennett fractured his left foot in the first series of Sunday’s opener at Philadelphia and will be sidelined at least a month. Coach Scott Linehan said Monday the team would probably sign a replacement this week.

¢ Jason Peters rejoined his Buffalo teammates for the first time since ending an offseason-long holdout, and proclaimed his intention to play this weekend.

¢ Dallas signed Brooks Bollinger, giving the Cowboys a third-string quarterback they lacked all last season.

¢ Seahawks wide receiver Nate Burleson is out for the season because of a knee injury. Burleson tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Coach Mike Holmgren said his team will also again be without veteran receivers Deion Branch and Bobby Engram for Sunday’s game against San Francisco.

¢ Tampa Bay quarterback Jeff Garcia sprained an ankle during the Buccaneers’ season-opening loss at New Orleans and is questionable for this week’s game against Atlanta.

¢ The Jacksonville Jaguars, already thin along the offensive line after the shooting of backup tackle Richard Collier, lost two starters in their opening loss at Tennessee. Guard Vince Manuwai is out for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Sunday, and guard Maurice Williams could be sidelined at least two months after rupturing his right biceps.
