Local author, artists launch El Diablo

Lawrence writer Jai Nitz, Baldwin inker Ande Parks and Iowa penciler Phil Hester will be on hand to sign copies of their new DC comics project, El Diablo, a six-issue miniseries that resurrects the famed haunted horseman. The tale follows Chato Santana, who is considered by some a ruthless ganglord and others a modern-day Robin Hood. Caught between the law and a power struggle in his gang, Chato meets Lazarus Lane, an impossibly old man with a possessed past. This pairing leads to a story of rebirth, revenge, betrayal, justice, comeuppance, curses and consequences. The El Diablo signing runs between noon and 7 p.m. at Elite Comics, 11842 Quivira Road, Overland Park
