The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an individual who was involved in a car accident about 4 p.m. Thursday just east of Tonganoxie.

Two vehicles crashed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24/40 and 178th Street. After the accident, the driver of one of the vehicles fled into a nearby wooded area.

The driver of the second vehicle was responsive to medical personnel at the scene. No other details about the accident were available.

The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 911.
