Kansas University, described as a “Cornbelt Berkeley,” was again a four-star academic institution in the eyes of the New York Times’ “Selective Guide to Colleges.”

Lawrence restaurant owner Frank Seurer Sr., found murdered at his place of business the past month, had been stabbed 23 times with two separate weapons, an autopsy report said leading up to prosecution of the suspect in the case. Bryan Keith Bel, 22, had been charged in the slaying.
