An Orange Bowl scout was in Ames to watch the unbeaten Kansas football team, now with a 5-0 record, play the Iowa State Cyclones. Kansas had been ranked as high as fifth in the nation in the early going and Pepper Rodgers’ Jayhawks were considered good prospects for a league title and an Orange Bowl trip.
