— Veritas Christian's eight-man football team had the ball in St. Mary's territory late in Friday night's game, but the drive ended with an interception in the end zone and a 14-6 loss.

Veritas coach Doug Bennett singled out the defensive play of Victor Hardin, who recorded 19 solo tackles, nine assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.

Eagles quarterback Nick Bennett completed four of 10 passes for 100 yards.

St. Mary's Academy improved to 6-1 overall.

Veritas fell to 4-3 and will take on Wichita Sunrise Academy at home on Thursday night in the last game of the regular season.

"We really played the best game that we've played all season," Doug Bennett said. "It just happened to come against the best team on our schedule."
