City of Lawrence to host Halloween activity at Mary’s Lake

October 23, 2008

The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will close the area around Mary's Lake on Sunday for a special Halloween event.

From 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the department will host Legends and Fairytales, an event that will feature fairytale characters handing out treats as children walk the trails surrounding Mary's Lake and Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper.

The trails around the lake will close to the public at noon Sunday to allow setup for the event to begin. The event is open to the public, but there is a $3 charge for people 3 years and older, or a $10 charge for families of four or more.

The program is sponsored by Prairie Park Partners, and will raise funds for the nature playground.

Downtown would be a better place to see "fairytale characters" in their natural habitat. :-)
