Lightning is blamed for the power outage that left more than 1,300 homes and businesses in Lawrence without power Tuesday evening.

Electricity was cut about 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. All power was restored about an hour and a half later.

Areas affected were between Sixth and Ninth Streets, from Massachusetts Street to Haskell Avenue.

Several customers in Leavenworth County also lost power for a time.
