The day of decision for picking a local downtown developer of record was set for Nov. 8. That was the date set by the city commission on a 3-2 vote to delay its decision of a developer of record. It earlier had appeared that Sizeler Realty of New Orleans would be the choice.

Kansas Rep. Betty Jo Charlton asked for an attorney general’s opinion on whether two city commissioners should abstain on votes concerning downtown development because they owned businesses in one of the proposed project areas. The commissioners were Mayor David Longhurst and Mike Amyx. Longhurst had a print shop, Amyx owned a downtown barber shop.
