Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 9, 1908: “In the future, all little creeks and ravines in Douglas County are to be spanned by stone arch bridges instead of the light wooden and iron structures of the past. Commissioners say the new plan will be far cheaper since the new bridges will far outlast the old styles. : The Haskell football team has returned from its first trip with a 1-1 record. The Indians lost at Arkansas, 6-0, then defeated Drury College 4-0 with a field goal.”
