Robert Docking, one-time Lawrence banker and four-term Democratic governor of Kansas, died in Arkansas City a day short of his 58th birthday. He died after a long bout with emphysema, the same ailment that had been fatal to his father, George, who served two terms as Kansas governor and also had been a Lawrence bank executive.
