Royals fire two coaches

Kansas City, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals fired hitting coach Mike Barnett and third-base coach Luis Silverio, the club announced Thursday. Four other coaches were offered contracts to return: bench coach Dave Owen, pitching coach Bob McClure, first-base coach Rusty Kuntz and bullpen coach John Mizerock.
General manager Dayton Moore said he wasn't certain when new coaches would be named, but he added that some of the returning coaches' roles might be changed.
