Poet’s Showcase: Sincerely

Thanksgiving, a day set aside for thoughtful prayer,

Reminding us of our Pilgrim fathers so willing to share.

Our get-togethers are quite different now,

But “love they neighbors” should still be our solemn vow.

Our thanks and efforts to give a helping hand

Could go far to show just where we Americans stand.

Seeking friends and peace, not telling others how to live,

Working out agreeable solutions, not just advice to give.

Being thankful is a true, happy feeling meant for all,

So gather all your friends and family; you will feel the call.

“Thanks” — a most happy and inviting word to hear,

It, like love, never tires a friendly ear.
