Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 30, 1908: “H.T. Martin of the paleontology department at the university is just completing the mounting of a rare skeleton of a three-toed horse that lived two million years ago. It will be one of the most valuable specimens in the local collection. … The bank of Olpe, Kan., was robbed of $2,500 today and the police say the thieves escaped on a railroad hand car. All rail outlets are being watched but so far there have been no sightings … “
