Lawrence resident and former Kansas University student Vanessa McCoy finished third in her division in the World University Weight-Lifting Championships on Thursday in Komotini, Greece. McCoy lifted 82 kilos, about 181 pounds, in the snatch and 100 kilos, about 220 pounds, in the clean and jerk to take the bronze. She also took bronze for her total in the two lifts. She competed in the 63-kilo division (about 139 pounds).
