No. 4 Oklahoma 83, Marist 57

Norman, Okla. — Freshman guard Whitney Hand scored a career-high 20 points, and Danielle Robinson added 17 points and a career-best eight assists as Oklahoma beat Marist on Wednesday in a tuneup before its showdown against top-ranked Connecticut.

Courtney Paris extended her streak of double-doubles to 97 straight with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a season-low 22 minutes as the Sooners (4-1) opened a 15-point lead in the first six minutes and were never challenged.

Rachelle Fitz scored 17 points, and Erica Allenspach added 10 for the Red Foxes (3-1), the top vote-getter outside the Top 25 this week.

Next up for the Sooners is a trip to Connecticut on Sunday to face the No. 1 Huskies, who they’ve never beaten in six tries. It could be their last chance with Paris, unless the teams meet again in the NCAA Tournament.

No. 18 Oklahoma State 85, New Orleans 54

Stillwater, Okla. — Tegan Cunningham scored a career-high 23 points and sparked a key 12-0 run by Oklahoma State.

Cunningham, a junior transfer from Seward County (Kan.) Community College playing in her fourth NCAA Div. I game, hit back-to-back three-point field goals as Oklahoma State (3-1) turned a 16-point lead into a 28-point advantage with 7:30 left.

Candice McGee led New Orleans (2-2) with 11 points.

Oklahoma State went 25-of-32 from the free-throw line and 7-of-21 from three-point range, while the Privateers of the Sun Belt Conference went to the line just nine times and committed 25 turnovers, 16 coming in the second half.

Andrea Riley scored 21 points, and Kristin Hernandez added 11 for Oklahoma State.

Consecutive three-pointers by Ty Felder and McGee cut Oklahoma State’s lead to 32-20 with 5:10 left in the first half.
