Five kid-friendly uses for vinegar

Got kids? Get vinegar! It’s eco-friendly and inexpensive. And the uses are virtually endless — from cleaning to cooking to gardening.

Here are five of our favorites. (Use white distilled vinegar unless otherwise noted.)

1. Stinky feet? Wash feet with soap then soak in undiluted cider vinegar for 10 minutes.

2. Rub into stains (grass, fruit, jelly, tea) on clothing then wash as usual.

3. Gum in your carpet? Soak the area with vinegar. Heat the vinegar to speed the process.

4. Use to soothe bee and jellyfish stings, as well as sunburns.

5. Add 1/4 cup to your vaporizer to help ease sinus infections and chest colds.

And just for fun:

• Soak a chicken bone in a glass of vinegar for three days. It will bend like rubber.

• Shine pennies! Soak them for a couple of hours or overnight in a glass of vinegar.
