Two Kansas University students were among the state’s 15 nominees for prestigious Rhodes Scholarships. They were Troy Harris, Lawrence senior, and Anne Sheehan, Topeka senior.

Building permits for single-family residences in Lawrence tied the high mark for the year during October, led by a housing development south of the Alvamar Golf Course. The city issued 23 single-family permits in October with nearly $1.5 million in valuation.
