Gardner-Edgerton 45, Mill Valley 0

Gardner – Gardner-Edgerton worked with a short field all night and scored seemingly at will as it made quick work of Mill Valley during a Class 5A football state quarterfinal matchup Friday night at Gardner Stadium.

The Blazers scored in every quarter and had four touchdown drives of less than 35 yards.

It was a disappointing end to the season for a Mill Valley squad that won Kaw Valley League and district championships, as well as a school-record nine games.

“(Gardner’s) a good football team; they proved it on the field,” Mill Valley coach George Radell said. “I think we’re disappointed with the effort, but our entire season isn’t one football game. There were plenty of successes, but clearly tonight we didn’t bring our A game.”

Mill Valley ended its season with a 9-2 record. Gardner improved to 10-1.
