Fall florals make transition to holiday table

Just in time to decorate your harvest table, “Home and Away” host Lori Carson visits this week with Karen Pendleton, owner of Pendleton’s Country Market, to look at a variety of fall floral creations.

Among the florals to be presented are a long-table arrangement featuring a variety of cascading fall flowers and harvest garden vegetables, a perfect complement to any Thanksgiving table.

Dried flowers are enjoying a resurgence in popularity, according to Pendleton.

“I think it has a lot to do with the economy,” she says in explaining the cost-effective, re-use qualities of alternatives to fresh flowers.

The Kansas state flower complements bird feeder baskets and wreaths featured on the show. These sunflower creations can be kept intact indoors or placed outdoors to accommodate feathered friends with an appetite.

For those looking to maximize the use of their harvest bounty, Pendleton will present a do-it-yourself segment on how to extend the life of fall gourds by transforming them into creative holiday ornaments.

“Home and Away” premieres Mondays at 6:30 p.m. on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6.

Each show replays at 9:30 p.m. Monday; 9 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday; 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday; 10:30 a.m. Friday; 10 a.m. Saturday; and 9 p.m. Sunday.
