Yellow adds sunshine to your style
Every season, one color shows up and it’s the color you must add to your wardrobe for a trendy touch. This year’s color is yellow. Before you start saying, “I can’t wear yellow,” stop and consider that color analysts say you can wear any color – you just have to find the hue for you.
“Yellow is luminous and warm because it is strongly associated with sunshine,” says Leatrice Eiseman, founder and director of the Eiseman Center for Color Information and Training and executive director of the Pantone Color Institute in Carlstadt, N.J.
In her book “More Alive With Color,” Eiseman explains that your color preferences say something about your personality and shares some “universal concepts” with the reader.
“Yellow people are highly original, innovative, imaginative, idealistic, creative, artistic and often spiritual. You love novelty and challenge and have an inquiring mind. You are a reliable friend and confidant,” she wrote.
Like those traits? Before you run out and buy a yellow wardrobe, take note that she says people who love the color yellow are often egotistical.
Whatever the shade of yellow, and regardless of your personal traits, yellow is a sure bet for spring and summer.
It’s the color being used for everything from sleepwear and swimsuits to sports clothes and evening wear. It’s fresh and crisp combined with white and dramatic when teamed with black or navy.
If you can’t bear the thought of wearing a yellow jacket, skirt or dress, remember that there are plenty of yellow accessories to choose from.
