From the Lawrence Daily World for May 31, 1908: “The fifth and last of the graduating recitals of the KU School of Fine Arts was given last night by John Ise, a voice student. It was unusual and excellent. Mr. Ise appeared as a singer, conductor and composer and distinguished himself in each capacity. He has a marvelous baritone voice and he is a singer of unusual intelligence. He wrote the accompaniments to his songs for orchestra and is a great musician. : Figures on the assessment this year of the property in Lawrence are completed and they show a total assessment of $9.25 million. The total is not much beyond that of a year ago but officials say it shows the community is doing well. : Lawrence now has a satisfactory anti-noise ordinance for the Fourth of July. Now it is up to lawmen to enforce it. “
