Saturation patrol planned for Saturday

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Lawrence Police Department will conduct a saturation patrol from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. From 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. they will conduct a driving while under the influence check lane in the community.

All the bars in town close at 2AM, at which time hundreds of really drunk people come out and drive around Lawrence and Douglas County - so they close down the DWI check lane at exactly 2AM!"And of course they wait till the students are gone to insure only a minimum of them are inconvenienced. Big show of taking drunk driving serious while at the same time reducing to a absolute minimum the chances of actually catching anyone.

so I was driving home from work at 12:15 AM, and I remembered that the police were gonna have a checkpoint set up. I figured it would be in East Lawrence. Imagine my surprise when I drove by it on Kasold between 23rd and 15th. I think three cars may be processed before it's all said a done....
