‘Idol’ winner dates Season 2 contestant

New York – David Cook says he’s dating an “American Idol” alumnus.

The newly crowned “Idol” winner said Tuesday on “Live With Regis and Kelly” that he recently had a dinner date with former “Idol” contestant Kimberly Caldwell.

Cook, 25, said he met Caldwell through the show. When asked whether he had a good time, Cook replied: “I did. We’ll probably hang out again. So we’ll see.”

Caldwell, 26, appeared on the second season of the top-rated Fox singing competition.

Cook, from Blue Springs, Mo., defeated 17-year-old David Archuleta last week in a landslide victory. The rocker became the heartthrob of the seventh season around the time he restyled his hair and displayed more confidence onstage.

Stone questions China’s karma

Los Angeles – Sharon Stone’s “karma” is having an instant effect on her movie-star status in China.

The 50-year-old actress suggested last week that the devastating May 12 earthquake in China could have been the result of bad karma over the government’s treatment of Tibet. That prompted the founder of one of China’s biggest cinema chains to say his company would not show her films in his theaters, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else,” Stone said Thursday during a Cannes Film Festival red-carpet interview with Hong Kong’s Cable Entertainment News. “And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

Ng See-Yuen, founder of the UME Cineplex chain and the chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, called Stone’s comments “inappropriate,” adding that actors should not bring personal politics to comments about a natural disaster that has left 5 million Chinese homeless, according to the Reporter.

UME has branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Guangzhou, China’s biggest urban movie markets.

‘Desperate Housewives’ star serves up Frostys

Corpus Christi, Texas – Eva Longoria Parker took time to dish out Frostys and french fries at a Wendy’s on Tuesday.

The “Desperate Housewives” star worked the drive-through at the restaurant to help kick off the Father’s Day Frosty Weekend, an event that donates 50 cents for every Frosty sold to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and its signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids.

Longoria Parker worked at Wendy’s from 1991 to 1994, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported in its online edition.

Spears, Lohan in new relationships?

Tori Spelling to return to ‘90210’ grounds

Tori Spelling, who ruled the universe in “Beverly Hills, 90210”, the teen soap opera created by her dad, Aaron Spelling, will return to the revamped, resurrected, reincarnated version of the show, the CW announced Tuesday.

Beginning this fall, Tori will play the grown-up version of her original character, Donna Martin. A CW rep tells “Entertainment Tonight” that Martin is now “the owner of one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills, a shopping hot spot that is frequented by the new cast of characters.”

Tori joins previously announced returnee Jennie Garth and “Full House” alumnus Lori Loughlin.

Kelsey Grammer gets another sitcom shot

Kelsey Grammer, whose Fox show “Back to You” wasn’t exactly a ratings hit, has landed a sitcom pilot for ABC, says E!Online.com. Cloned from the British series of the same name, “Roman’s Empire” is about a young man who is dumped by his heiress girlfriend, but whose life remains inexplicably intertwined with the girl’s overbearing billionaire family, especially its oddball patriarch, played by Grammer.
