Detroit – Magglio Ordonez homered twice and drove in six runs to help Detroit rout Minnesota.

The defending AL batting champion hit a two-run shot to deep left field and drove in two runners with a third-inning double that gave Detroit the lead for good. He added another two-run shot to left during a six-run fourth.

Detroit’s victory ended a four-game losing streak against its AL Central rival.

Yankees 12, Mariners 6

New York – Mike Mussina survived five shaky innings before turning it over to Joba Chamberlain and New York’s reshaped bullpen, and the Yankees pummeled Seattle for their first four-game winning streak of the season.

Indians 5, Rangers 2

Cleveland – Cliff Lee bounced back from his only poor outing this season, and Ben Francisco hit a three-run homer to help Cleveland snap its seven-game losing streak.

Angels 2, White Sox 0

Chicago – Jered Weaver pitched three-hit ball over eight innings, and Vladimir Guerrero hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth to lead Los Angeles over Chicago. Weaver (4-5) struck out six, walked two and improved to 3-0 with an 0.34 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his major league-leading 21st save in 22 changes.

Rays 11, Orioles 4

St. Petersburg, Fla. – Evan Longoria homered twice and had six RBIs to lead Tampa Bay past Baltimore. It was Longoria’s first career multihomer game. The rookie hit a three-run shot during a four-run first, and had a two-run drive in a five-run second. He also hit a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.

Athletics 3, Red Sox 0

Oakland, Calif. – Justin Duchscherer carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, Ryan Sweeney homered, and Oakland beat Boston for its first series win in its past five. Duchscherer (4-3) outdueled Josh Beckett.
