Nearly three weeks after a Lawrence man was killed in a hit-and-run accident, a police investigation is continuing and there has been no arrest.

A day after 60-year-old Thomas Crum of Lawrence was killed in a two-vehicle accident, Lawrence police said they had a suspect identified. That identification was possible because of vehicle parts that were found at the scene with identification numbers on them.

Once police are through with their investigation it will be forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney's office for review.

"The bulk of the report is completed, but we still have a couple of supplements to finish," police spokesman Sgt. Paul Fellers said.

Crum was killed early May 4 on Sixth Street east of Kasold Drive.

They've got plenty of time for any arrest. Relax.

Fort_Aubrey (Anonymous) says: "They've got plenty of time for any arrest. Relax."Agreed. The evidence is substantial already for a conviction on the misdemeanor charge. Hopefully the LPD will gather enough evidence for the DA to get beyond a reasonable doubt with a jury on a felony charge. In fact, charge the felony and give the jury a chance for a felony conviction on this "booze cruzin" "great guy" who "made a mistake" who kills then leaves to scene to edit his Facebook pages POS.

akt2 (Anonymous) says: "HIs lawyers will start with "He can't get a fair trial in Dg Co"."And his lawyer will be wrong and have no basis for the claim. Jurors are subject to questioning prior to being seated and both sides will strike those with strongly held opinions on this case. It is too bad that Judges sentencing is not subect to the same scrutiny. In fact, jurors and judges are likely to be harsher anywhere else in Kansas. Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.
