From the Lawrence Daily World for May 18, 1908: “The Chemistry Department of the University of Kansas is one of the best in the Middle West. Since the erection of the chemistry building in 1900, the department has advanced step by step until it has established an outstanding reputation among eastern chemists and manufacturers. The department is getting busier all the time and more staff members and more room may be in order soon. : Never in the history of presidential politics has the American press been more appreciated than it seems to be for current candidates who welcome any chance for coverage. A number of politicians now are hiring press agents.”
