The City Commission set June 13 for the opening of bids on Lawrence Memorial Hospital's proposed extended care unit, expected to cost $1,059,000.

Two Marine fliers parachuted to safety before their disabled plane crashed and exploded on a railroad track about 15 miles west of Ottawa. There were no injuries.
