Spears accident caught on video

Los Angeles – Another Britney Spears fender-bender, another instant online video.

Paparazzi had cameras rolling when the pop star’s white Mercedes-Benz coupe rear-ended a red Ford Explorer Tuesday in Beverly Hills.

The video, posted on TMZ.com, shows Spears in the driver’s seat. Wearing a ponytail and aviator shades, she covers her mouth with her hand after realizing she hit the car in front of her.

No one was injured and police were not involved. Photos and video do not reveal any visible damage to either car.

The 26-year-old’s bodyguard, who was riding in the passenger seat, gave Spears’ information to the female driver of the SUV, People.com and TMZ reported.

Spears was involved in a separate fender-bender on April 12. No one was injured or cited in that accident.

LaBeouf: Drinking, shopping don’t mix

New York – Turns out it was a nicotine jones that led to Shia LaBeouf’s arrest in Chicago.

The 21-year-old actor, who stars opposite Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” told the story of his infamous Walgreen’s arrest during his appearance on Monday night’s “Late Show.”

LaBeouf told David Letterman he got “pretty wasted” before his stint in “the drunk tank” last November for refusing to leave a Walgreen’s store in Chicago.

His story: He had a hankering for cigarettes – and was preoccupied by pimple on his forehead.

“So I go to Walgreen’s and I go to the cosmetic aisle,” LaBeouf recalled, “and I see the security guard and he’s looking at me, four in the morning, pretty disheveled, pretty messed up on the special magic sauce. And I get the pimple cream, and he’s looking at me, he’s kinda giggling to himself, and now I’m starting to feel like, ‘What? It’s really not that funny, guy, you know?”‘

A bashful LaBeouf went back to his hotel and realized he’d forgotten to buy the smokes. He returned to the store, only to accidentally back into the candy aisle. Pretending he had done it on purpose, he purchased some gummy bears – and, once again, left without buying cigarettes.

The security guard questioned LaBeouf on his third return. “He goes, ‘Well, what are you doing here?’ And I’m like, ‘Well buddy, it’s your worst nightmare,”‘ LaBeouf said.

He said at that point, another security guard put him in plastic handcuffs and took him to the ground, said LaBeouf, calling himself a “moron.”

Charges of misdemeanor criminal trespassing were later dropped.

What did LaBeouf learn from the ordeal?

“Drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping … it’s just as bad,” he said.

LaBeouf was separately cited in February for smoking where he shouldn’t in Burbank, Calif., but a judge later dismissed the charge.

Rapper sentenced to 8 years in prison

New York – A weeping Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday for shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub.

“I feel so bad for all the physical and mental pain you’ve gone through,” the Grammy-nominated rapper told the victim. “This has taken a toll on us and both our families. I would never wish you harm and I pray the best for all of us.”

The entertainer, whose real name is Remy Smith, had faced up to 25 years in prison for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes Joseph last July in a dispute over money.

Smith, 26, begged the judge for leniency for the sake of “my little boy,” saying she grew up “surrounded by failure, violence and poverty,” but “made something out of nothing” from her life.

State Supreme Court Justice Rena Uviller said she recognized that Smith had had a difficult childhood, but noted the victim had nearly died and will never be the same physically. Uviller called the rapper “a young woman whose anger is out of control.”

After the sentencing, Smith’s fiance, fellow rapper Papoose, began screaming in a hallway outside the courtroom. “All you want is money!” he said, apparently referring to the victim.

The couple had planned to wed last weekend at the Rikers Island jail, where Smith has been incarcerated. Correction officials said they called off the wedding after Papoose showed up with a handcuff key.

Barrymore pursues hit-and-run driver

Los Angeles – Drew Barrymore was involved in a hit-and-run accident, but instead of staying put, she followed the other driver and took down the license plate number.

The 33-year-old actress wasn’t injured when her car was rear-ended Monday in West Hollywood, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Kristin Aloma.

Aloma said Barrymore followed the other vehicle and got its license plate number, which she then handed over to sheriff’s deputies.

She said she didn’t know the extent of damage to Barrymore’s car.

No arrests had been reported Tuesday morning.

“It could be dangerous,” Aloma said of following someone after an accident.

Still, she emphasized that getting a license plate number is instrumental to tracking down a hit-and-run motorist.
