Oklahoma City ? A wild pitch in the top of the sixth proved costly as Kansas University opened the Big 12 Conference Softball Championship with a 4-3 loss to Nebraska on Friday.

The game was tied at 3 in the sixth when Nebraska, the No. 10 seed, scored a what proved to be the deciding run off a wild pitch in the sixth.

KU, seeded seventh, ended its season 37-19 overall, 7-11 in the Big 12.

NU (27-27) will face second-seeded Oklahoma in the semifinals today.

Kansas was behind 1-0 after two innings, but came back to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth using three hits and taking an advantage of a Nebraska error to score three.

Amanda Jobe started the rally with a single to center to bring in Val Chapple from second base. One out later, Betsy Wilson smacked her sixth double of the season to right field, scoring Jobe and Fesmire, who was pinch-running for Liz Kocon, to give KU the 3-1 advantage.

But three NU singles and a KU error allowed the Huskers to tie it at 3 in the fifth.

The Jayhawks stranded five runners in the final two innings, including three in the sixth.
