The City Commission was reaching the final stages of picking a successor to the resigned Barkley Clark. The odds seemed to favor broadcaster Howard Hill over steel fabricator Walt Hull. Hull said his approach to the situation was to “fight hard and clean for the post, but to remain friends with those involved.”
