Radio station deal on county agenda

Douglas County commissioners tonight will conduct a public hearing and decide whether to approve an Arizona county’s financing of a local radio station purchase.

Family Life Broadcasting Inc. has purchased radio stations, including KJTY, 1031 E. 1200 Road, about 3 miles south of Lawrence. The Industrial Development Authority of Pima County, Ariz., is financing acquisition and improvement of radio stations for use by Family Broadcasting.

The Pima County industrial authority wants to issue revenue bonds for the financing, not to exceed $4 million. Douglas County and other counties where stations are being purchased have to be asked to approve the bonds. Douglas County, however, is not involved with the purchase and financing.

Commissioners, who will meet at 6:35 p.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass., also will:

¢ Consider initiation of a text amendment concerning minimum lot areas of agriculture and suburban home residential zones.

¢ Consider initiation of a text amendment to clarify the number of property divisions at an intersection.

¢ Issue a township notice for a cereal malt beverage license for Pipeline Productions at Clinton State Park for June 5 to 8 for the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival.
