From the Lawrence Daily World for May 7, 1908: "A crew of 11 has set up a camp here to begin surveying of territory for the Kansas Traction Co.'s proposed trolley line from Coffeyville. The crew had been working between here and Baldwin for about 10 days. It is likely the route will cross the river west of the Massachusetts Street bridge. : District Judge Smart has canceled the naturalization papers of nine would-be citizens of the United States because their papers were not technically correct."
