Three KU individuals win Arkansas track events

? Egor Agafonov, Jordan Scott, Stephanie Horton and the women’s 1,600-meter relay team posted victories for Kansas University’s track and field teams Friday at the Arkansas Twilight on Friday night. Julius Jiles and Matt Baysinger also posted regional marks for the Jayhawks.

Agafonov has won all nine of his competitions this year, including his indoor weight-throw season, when he won the national championship for the second straight year. His second throw in the finals was his best – 221 feet, 8 inches.

Scott won the pole vault after connecting on his second attempt at 17-5. It is a season-best for the Watkinsville, Ga., native and ranks second in the Big 12 Conference.

Horton won the shot put for the second consecutive week with her longest toss coming on her final effort.

After surpassing her opposition on her second throw of the finals, she put the competition out of reach at 51-71â4.

Jiles qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regionals with a 400-hurdles time of 51.48, placing him third.

Baysinger also surpassed the qualifying mark with his fourth-place finish of 1:49.08 in the 800.
