With the help of a reasonably mild winter, an energy conservation program initiated by the Lawrence school district had paid off handsomely in energy savings. Every elementary and secondary school in the district except one had recorded a decrease in electricity needs and natural gas consumption over the winter on the basis of a three-year average.
