Royals fall, 5-2, but Greinke has promising start

? Life without their starting center fielder might be just fine for the Milwaukee Brewers, thanks to Tony Gwynn Jr.

Gwynn, who likely will start the season in center while Mike Cameron serves a 25-game suspension, drove in the tying and go-ahead run on a bloop single in the seventh as the Brewers concluded their exhibition schedule with a 5-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday.

Kansas City starter Zach Greinke gave up a run and seven hits in six innings, striking out five without issuing a walk.

“He changed speeds very effectively,” Royals manager Trey Hillman said. “That is special when you can do that. Obviously, that is why we are so excited about him and the possibilities for him to be a force in our rotation.”
