Unless the city commission could work out a lease agreement for a private pool, there was to be no public swimming facility for use by Lawrence residents the coming summer. Federal funding of $52,000 for the public pool, which had been approved by voters, would not be available and officials said there was not sufficient financing to move ahead at the time.
