From the Lawrence Daily World for March 22, 1908: “The Eudora News refused to believe the word of an old bachelor who lives near there and who declares he has received five leap-year proposals since the first of the year. ‘No one girl,’ says the News, ‘would be so persistent.’ : The track athletes at Lawrence High School have begun preparation for state competition and feel they have enough good people to win the championship. : Republican city primary elections are being held today, the last to be held under the old system before the new primary law becomes effective.”
